THURSDAY DRAWING CLUB

OVERVIEW

Divorce yourself from the concept of good in this three-hour weekly drawing workshop, led by a masters-degree level illustrator passionate about sketchbooks and hands-on drawing. In a fun-fuelled, stress-free environment, participants are encouraged to explore their artistic voice through drawing, collage, and mixed-media techniques. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, the workshop provides a supportive environment where creativity can thrive without pressure.

Each week will introduce key sketchbook principles, offering insights into materials, composition, and thematic development. Participants will have the chance to experiment with different tools and techniques while learning from the approaches of inspiring artists. The emphasis is on exploration rather than perfection, allowing for playful discovery and artistic growth.
No rules, no right answers, just a space to create. Beyond technique, the workshop also fosters critical thinking and artistic reflection. By engaging with new concepts, discussing creative challenges, and receiving constructive feedback, participants develop a deeper understanding of their artistic practice. The goal is to build a sustainable, personalised sketchbook habit that encourages creativity long after the workshop ends.

APPROACH

We begin with a Check-In & Ready Your Materials session, arrive, set up your drawing space, and take a moment to get comfortable. Grab your pens, paper, and any other supplies you’d like to use. At 5 PM sharp, Drawing Club begins!I’ll introduce the class theme, walk you through what to expect, and set the tone for a relaxed, engaging experience. Each week introduces key sketchbook principles, insights into materials, and thematic development, giving you room to experiment while learning from inspiring artists.

Next, we dive into the Model or Activity Drawing Session, where you’ll work through timed drawing exercises based on the day’s assignment. Poses will vary, encouraging exploration and experimentation. Short breaks between sets give time to reflect and reset before the next round. The session concludes with a Drawing Presentation & Wrap-Up Group Discussion, where everyone shares their work, discusses challenges, and celebrates progress in a supportive setting. If you’d like extra guidance, stick around for Personal Tutor Time (Optional) to receive one-on-one feedback and explore new directions for your artistic growth.
